An examination of the connectedness and its decline throughout a relationship - more so my own discovery of unknown aspects of myself throughout. Initially beginning as an outward expression of the inner exasperation we can experience when our memories consume, corrupt, and wound us, it became an entire recollection of the occurrence in its entirety.
I wanted to tell you.
The words sat on a launching pad.
I drew a breath and gagged on its air.
I felt the same as I did when I first told you I loved you.
It was safe then.
It was returned then.
It was cold now.
I couldn’t see your face.
I couldn’t open my mouth.
Digital negatives were made using 35mm images. A number of Cyanotypes and Van Dykes prints were made from them on thin, Japanese Kozu paper. Each print was coated with encaustic (heated beeswax) making them transparent. The contrasting prints were layered on top of one another creating a double exposure effect when held up to light. They are housed in acrylic frames that allow them to be held and examined.
